Disruption Type

Human-Centric

This occupation relies heavily on human judgment, empathy, creativity, or physical dexterity that remains beyond current AI capabilities.

AI animal monitoring systems with computer vision can track animal health indicators in research facilities and shelters, providing early alerts on behavioral or health changes. Direct animal handling, physical care, cleaning, and the relationship-based aspects of working with animals in distress require human presence and experience. This role is essentially insulated from AI displacement through 2027; the physical care demands and the need for human-animal interaction mean AI functions as a monitoring aid rather than a workforce substitute.
