Physical Robots

Physical robotics, autonomous machines, and automated equipment are the main threat to the physical tasks in this occupation.

Semiconductor Processing Technicians operate equipment in chip fabrication facilities — highly technical work in controlled environments where AI process control and automated metrology are advancing. However, the complexity and sensitivity of semiconductor manufacturing means skilled human technicians remain essential for process monitoring, chamber maintenance, and yield improvement. Demand is growing with semiconductor manufacturing expansion through 2027.
