Bus drivers for transit and intercity routes operate vehicles in complex, mixed-traffic urban and highway environments — a role where autonomous vehicle technology from Waymo, May Mobility, and Navya is advancing but where full commercial deployment in public transit remains limited to low-speed, fixed-route shuttles in controlled environments.
