AI therapy platforms and diagnostic decision-support tools are increasingly visible in applied psychology, and AI can generate psychology lecture content, but teaching the science and practice of psychology requires expert human modeling. Clinical supervision of student practitioners, research mentorship, and fostering critical thinking about AI in mental health are growing responsibilities for faculty. Through 2027 psychology faculty face modest AI pressure on administrative tasks; the research and mentorship core remains firmly human, and AI ethics in mental health is growing as a sub-specialty.
